MOUNT VERNON, IOWA . . . Eight Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) basketball players, five women and three men, were named to the Second Annual D3Hoops.com All-West Region Team. Conference Most Valuable Players Eric Wiebers (Denison, Iowa/Denison-Schleswig HS) and Amy Meggers (Manilla, Iowa/I-K-M HS) both of Buena Vista University, along with Wartburg College’s Holly Mohs (Monona, Iowa/MFL-Mar-Mac HS) were named to the men’s and women’s All-West Region First Team.

Central College’s Amy Steenhoek (Pella, Iowa/Pella HS) and Loras College’s Alicia Davis (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead HS) were named to the D3Hoops.com women’s Second Team and Simpson College’s Tiffany Whitsell (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy HS) was named to the women’s Third Team. Mohs and Davis were both D3Hoops.com First Team All-Region selections in 2002, and Davis was a D3Hoops.com Third Team All-America.

Joining Wiebers on the men’s All-Region Team are teammate Chris Petersen (Audubon, Iowa/Audubon HS), who was selected to the D3Hoops.com men’s Second Team and Central’s Scott Huisman (Pella, Iowa/Pella Christian HS), a member of the Third Team.

Players were nominated for the D3Hoops.com All-Region Teams by the Sports Information Directors at their respective schools. Regional ballots were distributed to Sports Information Directors, who voted for ten players in their region, ranking those players from 1 to 10.
