MOUNT VERNON, IOWA . . . Three Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) women’s basketball teams were named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2002 Academic Top-25 Team Honor Roll announced on September 17. Wartburg College ranked fifth in Division III with a team grade point average of 3.536 followed by Central College, which ranked sixth with a team GPA of 3.503. Buena Vista University ranked 25th with a team GPA of 3.329.

“This is a tremendous achievement for these women’s basketball teams. The Iowa Conference congratulates the women on the Wartburg, Central and Buena Vista women’s basketball teams for their commitment to academic excellence,” IIAC Commissioner John Cochrane said. “The Iowa Conference is proud of its commitment to academic achievement and these honors serve to reinforce the success our institutions are having in accomplishing this mission.”
