IOWA CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT BEGINS FRIDAY

November 6, 2002

MOUNT VERNON, IOWA . . . The 2002 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Volleyball Tournament takes place this weekend, November 8-9, at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. Action begins Friday at 4:30 pm and Saturday at 9:00 am. Central College enters the Tournament as the top seed and is the six-time defending Conference Champion.

Regular season Conference play and the Conference Tournament each count 50 percent towards determining the IIAC champion. Teams are awarded points based on their finish during the regular season and tournament, earning 10 points for a first place finish, nine points for second place and so on down to one point for a tenth place finish. Should two or more teams finish with identical regular season records, points will be split and the team with the better head-to-head record against tied teams will earn the higher Tournament seed. If teams are tied following the Conference Tournament, the team with the higher finish at the Tournament will earn the IIAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The seedings for the IIAC Tournament and the point total of each school for its regular season finish are:
