MOUNT VERNON, IOWA . . . The Iowa
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that
four of the Conference’s volleyball players were named to the American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Central Region Team.
IIAC Most Valuable Player Shannon Leonard
(Ottumwa, Iowa/Ottumwa HS), a senior middle hitter from Loras College,
Central College’s Catie Ruefer (Davenport, Iowa/North
HS), a junior right side hitter, and Kristin Hancock (Cedar
Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls HS), a freshman outside hitter, and Wartburg
College junior middle hitter Dia Dohlman (Eldora,
Iowa/Eldora-New Providence HS) were named to the 12-member Team.
In addition to her All-Region honors, Hancock was
named the Central Region’s Freshman of the Year. For Dohlman, it
is the second straight season she was recognized by the AVCA as
an All-Region Player.
Wartburg senior setter Angie Hulse (Clarence,
Iowa/North Cedar HS) and Simpson senior middle hitter Jessica
Nauman (Ledyard, Iowa/North Kossuth HS) were among six
that earned All-Region Honorable Mention.
