MOUNT VERNON, IOWA . . . The Iowa
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that
Coe College running back Fredrick Jackson (Fort
Worth, Texas/Lamar HS) and Wartburg College defensive back Cody
Kelley (Tipton, Iowa/Tipton HS) have been named to the
25th Annual Hewlett Packard All-America Team. Jackson was named
to the First Team and Kelley to the Third Team.
Two-time Conference MVP Jackson continues to garner
post season awards. On December 14, he was named MVP of the 2002
Aztec Bowl and on December 17, he was named to the American Football
Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team and Don Hansen’s Football
Gazette All-West Region Team.
Kelley, a junior, is a two-time All-Conference
selection and finished the 2002 season as the IIAC’s co-leader in
interceptions with six, including two which he returned for touchdowns.
Coe offensive lineman David Stevens
(St. Louis, Mo./CBC HS), Cornell linebacker Chet Knake (Bellevue,
Iowa/Bellevue HS) and Wartburg defensive lineman Vince King
(Burlington, Iowa/Burlington HS) received Hewlett Packard
Honorable Mention.
The silver anniversary Hewlett Packard All-America
Team was selected by a panel of 29 sports information directors
representing the four playoff regions in NCAA Division III. Voters
made first-, second- and third-team selections. Three hundred seventy
seven players were included on the ballot. Teams with two or fewer
losses were allowed five nominations, teams .500 or better could
nominate up to three players and schools finishing below .500 were
allotted two nominations.
