CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Three
Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) basketball players,
two men and a woman, were named to the Academic All-District VII
College Division Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last week.
Wartburg College senior forward Kelly Foley
(Tipton, Iowa/Tipton HS) was selected to the Women’s Basketball
First Team. Foley is a psychology major.
On the men’s side, Buena Vista University forward
Michael Cameron (Urbandale, Iowa/Johnston HS) and
junior Coe College junior guard Nick Wilkins (Grinnell,
Iowa/Grinnell HS) were both named to the Third Team. Cameron is
an elementary education major and Wilkins is a business administration/economics
major.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District
Team and the Academic All-America® Team, a student-athlete must
have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, be a starter
or key reserve and possess at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point
average (on a 4.0 scale).
Foley, as a member of the Academic All-District
VII First Team now moves on to the national ballot. The Academic
All-America® Women’s Basketball Team will be announced on Friday,
March 5.
District VII College Division includes NCAA Division
II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas,
Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming,
Alberta and Saskatchewan.
