SIMPSON’S KUIKEN COMPETES
AT NCAA SWIMMING & DIVING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

ST. PETER'S MO. . . . Simpson College senior Dana Kuiken (Fairfield, Iowa/Fairfield HS) concluded her collegiate career competing in three events at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championship hosted by Principia College at the Rec Plex in St. Peter’s, Mo.

On Thursday, she placed 45th in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries in a time of 25.50. The following day, Kuiken, the first Simpson swimmer to qualify for the National Championship, tied for 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke and earned honorable mention All-America honors. She tied Emory’s Tracy Shessler, finishing in 1:06.96 (second fastest time in school history). Kuiken broke her own school record by nearly two seconds in the 200-yard breaststroke on Saturday. She swam 2:29.88 and finished 28th in the preliminaries.

Her performances scored Simpson 6.5 points, which placed the Storm 51st in the team standings.
