CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Twelve Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) baseball players were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Central Region Team announced on Monday.

Simpson College junior third baseman Dan Rieck (Ankeny, Iowa/Dowling HS) and Coe College junior pitcher Mitch Bockenstedt (Strawberry Point, Iowa/Starmont HS) were named to the All-Central Region First Team.

Earning Second Team All-Region honors were Coe senior second baseman Tim Higgins (Eldridge, Iowa/Maquoketa HS), Luther College senior pitcher Brad Paulsrud (DeSoto, Wis./DeSoto HS), Simpson junior outfielder Troy Hatten (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola HS) and Wartburg College sophomore catcher Brian Greiner (Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln HS) and junior first baseman Joel Reynolds (Wes Des Moines, Iowa/Valley HS).

Coe sophomore first baseman Will Renner (Maquoketa, Iowa/Maquoketa HS), Simpson senior designated hitter Mike Donnenwerth (Sheffield, Iowa/SCMT HS) and Wartburg junior outfielder Aaron Port (Nevada, Iowa/Nevada HS), junior pitcher Charlie Colvin (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City HS) and sophomore Matt Scherbring (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware HS) were selected to the Third Team.

Donnenwerth, Greiner and Reynolds all earned ABCA All-Central Region Second Team honors in 2003.
