EIGHT NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT SOCCER TEAMS

November 6, 2003

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Eight Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) soccer student-athletes, five men and three women, were named to the Academic All-District VII College Division Soccer Teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

A First and Second Team was selected for the women. Goettl and Wieser were First Team selections. Dearborn was a Second Team selection. Only one Team was selected on the men’s side.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District Team and the Academic All-America® Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

The 11 members of the Academic All-District VII Women’s First Team and all 11 members of the Academic All-District VII Men’s Team will be placed on the national ballot. The Academic All-America® Men’s Soccer Team will be announced on Monday, November 24. The Academic All-America® Women’s Soccer Team will be announced on Tuesday, November 25.

District VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
