264 STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN ALL-ACADEMIC RECOGNITION

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today its All-Academic Team for the Fall 2003 season. Two hundred sixty-four student-athletes from the Conference’s eight fall sports met the set requirements for recognition.

To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must participate at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

The Fall 2003 All-Academic Team is comprised of 88 sophomores, 83 juniors and 93 seniors. Luther College has a Conference-high 49 student-athletes on the Team followed by Central College (38 student-athletes), Buena Vista University (35 student-athletes), Cornell College (31 student-athletes) and Loras College (30 student-athletes).

Sixty-four of the student-athletes honored are cross country runners, including 43 women and 21 men. Fifty-seven of those honored are soccer players, including 34 women and 23 men. Rounding out the All-Academic Team are 57 football players, 38 volleyball players, 26 women tennis players and 22 women golfers.
