STORM LAKE, IOWA . . . Buena Vista
University women's basketball player Katie Maguire
has been named Kodak/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)
NCAA III All-America Team Honorable Mention. The junior guard from
Treynor, Iowa, was one of 30 athletes to earn honorable mention.
Maguire, a three-time all-conference selection,
averaged over 18 points and five assists per game this past season
as Buena Vista won its second consecutive Iowa Conference Championship.
She set new single season school records for three point shots (74)
and three point field goal percentage (44.3%). Maguire, who earned
the conference’s Most Valuable Player award, ranks eighth in school
history with 1,177 career points. She also ranks near the top of
the career charts in assists and steals.
Last week, Maguire and 39 other players were named
as finalists to the All-America Team. Ten players were selected
to the Team, while Maguire and the 29 other athletes earned honorable
mention. She was the only Iowa Conference player to be recognized.
