CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Coe seniors Beth Rohlena (Sioux City, Iowa/North H.S.) and Amy Ernst (Monona, Iowa/MFL Mar Mac H.S.) and junior Ashley Wagner (Lansing, Iowa/Kee H.S.) were tabbed All-Americans as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

This marks the first time that Coe softball has had three All-Americans in one season. Rohlena (outfield) and Ernst (at large) are the third and fourth Kohawks to be named to the first team. Rohlena and Wagner, a third-team selection, are the first outfielders at Coe to earn All-America honors. Together, they are the sixth, seventh and eighth All-Americans in the history of Coe softball.

Rohlena led the Iowa Conference with 42 RBIs and her .412 batting average ranked third. She added five home runs, nine doubles, and scored 25 runs. Rohlena ranked in the top-five of the league in slugging percentage (.623), on base percentage (.465), hits (47) and home runs.

For her career, Rohlena’s 92 RBIs ranks sixth all-time at Coe and her 14 home runs ranks seventh.

Ernst, the 2005 Iowa Conference Most Valuable Player, was 24-4 in the circle with 266 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.69. She started 25 games and appeared in 34. She threw 21 complete games, had 14 shutouts and had a school-record four saves.

Ernst was among the national leaders for ERA, strikeouts/7 innings, victories and saves. She led Iowa Conference pitching in almost every statistical category including ERA, strikeouts, wins, opposing batting average (.139), saves, innings pitched (171 2-3) and appearances.

With 65 career wins, Ernst is Coe’s all-time winningest pitcher. Her 505 strikeouts ranks third all-time and her 1.19 earned run average ranks fourth. Ernst threw more innings (559) than any other pitcher in Coe history and her eight saves doubles the previous school record.

Wagner hit .410 with 10 home runs, 36 RBIs and 50 runs scored. She led the league in hits, home runs, runs scored and total bases (93). She ranked fourth or higher in six other offensive categories including batting average, RBIs, slugging percentage (.669), on base percentage (.478), walks (18) and stolen bases (17).

This season, Wagner set a new Coe single-season record for runs scored. Her 106 career runs scored ranks fourth all-time at Coe. She also ranks fourth all-time for home runs (17) and seventh all-time for batting average (.372) and stolen bases (28).

Coe finished 37-6 overall and won its first outright Iowa Conference title with a 15-1 mark. Kohawk Head Coach Bob Timmons earned his 600th career victory in being named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year. He has now coached five All-Americans in his eight season at Coe.
