GOLF AND TENNIS STUDENT-ATHLETES RECEIVE NATIONAL ACADEMIC HONORS

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Thirty-nine Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) student-athletes and two teams were recognized for academic excellence as the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their annual honors.

Twelve IIAC women’s golfers were named to the NGCA All-American Scholar Teams. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have a 3.50 grade point average and must have competed in at least 66 percent of their team’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Fifteen IIAC men’s tennis players were named ITA Scholar Athletes and Central College received the ITA All-Academic Team award. Twelve IIAC women’s tennis players were named ITA Scholar Athletes and Cornell College received the ITA All-Academic Team award. To be eligible for ITA Scholar Athlete honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year, and must have been enrolled in their present school for at least two semesters. To be eligible for the ITA All-Academic Team award, the program must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above.
