CEDAR FALLS, IOWA . . . Wartburg College sophomore Andrea Schiltz carded an even-par-72 to take the first-round lead at the 2004 Iowa Conference Women’s Golf Championships Friday at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. Schiltz holds a four-stroke lead over Jennifer Stork of Buena Vista and Lindy Buck of Luther, who both shot 76. Wartburg leads the eight-team tournament by eight strokes over second-place Simpson College.

Schiltz carded two birdies and eagled the par-five 14th hole to go two-under-par. Her double-bogey at the 18th-hole dropped her to even-par for the tournament.

Janelle Claiborne of Simpson (77) and Erin Dohlman of Wartburg (79) round out the top-five individuals.

Buena Vista University, who has won three of the past four championships, is third in the team standings with a team score of 330. Central College (341) is fourth and Luther College (342) is fifth.
