WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP - DAY 2 RECAP

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA . . . Wartburg College and Simpson College both shot 323 in the second round of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) women’s golf Championship at Pheasant Ridge Golf Club in Cedar Falls on Saturday. Wartburg holds an eight stroke lead over Simpson after 36-holes of the 72-hole Championship with a score of 643.

Wartburg’s Andrea Schiltz maintained the individual lead although Luther’s Lindy Buck closed the gap to two strokes. Schiltz shot a second round 79 for a 36-hole score of 151. Buck shot the second round low score of 77, for a two round total of 153. Simpson’s Janelle Claiborne is four strokes behind Schiltz following a second round 78. Rounding out the top-five are Buena Vista’s Jennifer Stork and Wartburg’s Erin Dohlman both of whom finished the first weekend of the Championship with 158s. Dohlman shot a 79 on Saturday while Stork shot an 82.

Rounding out the top-five in the team standings are Buena Vista, Central and Luther. Buena Vista shot a 329 on Saturday for a score of 659. Central and Luther both shot 342 for a 36-hole score of 683 and 684, respectively.

The Championship continues next weekend (October 8-9) at Ellis Golf Course in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Friday’s tee times begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday’s tee times begin at 9:00 a.m.
