LUTHER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT CONFERENCE WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Luther College won its third straight Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis Championship with a 5-0 victory over Cornell College on Saturday in Cedar Rapids. The Norse have now won 22 of 23 Conference titles.

After sweeping doubles in the Championship match, Luther took #6 singles as Jacie Haroldson defeated Brit Roth (6-1, 6-2) and the title clincher at #2 singles as Kirsten Madsen defeated Emily Loewen (6-4, 6-0).

In the third-place match Central defeated Loras, 5-4. Loras took two-of-three doubles but Central came back with four of six singles victories including the final match at #2 singles, a three-set victory for Kristin Kovar over Natalia Fernandez (6-1, 4-6, 10-7).

In the semifinals, Luther defeated Loras, 5-0, and Cornell defeated Central, 6-0.
