241 STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN ALL-ACEDMIC RECOGNITION

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today its All-Academic Team for the Fall 2004 season. Two hundred forty-one student-athletes from the Conference’s eight fall sports met the set requirements for recognition.

To be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must compete at that varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

The Fall 2004 All-Academic Team is comprised of 88 seniors, 78 sophomores and 75 juniors. Luther College has a Conference-high 39 student-athletes on the Team followed by Wartburg College (31 student-athletes), Central College (29 student-athletes), Loras College (29 student-athletes) and Cornell College (28 student-athletes).

Fifty-seven of the student-athletes honored are soccer players, 33 women and 24 men. Fifty-two of the student-athletes honored are cross country runners, 37 women and 15 men. Rounding out the All-Academic Team are 46 football players, 40 volleyball players, 25 women’s tennis players and 21 women’s golfers.
