BUENA VISTA'S STALEY TO BE FEATURED ON FOX SPORTS NORTH

March 7, 2006
Release courtesy of Nick Huber, Buena Vista Univ. sports information director

STORM LAKE , IOWA . . . Buena Vista University women's basketball player Kelli Staley will be featured on the March episode of NCAA On Campus, which airs nationally on the Fox Sports Network (FSN).

Fox Sports North will show the episode at 3 p.m. (Central time) on Monday, March 13. FSN affiliates around the nation will broadcast the episode at various times, in most cases on March 13.

The feature will focus on Staley's experience working with the Special Olympics girls basketball program in Lithuania during an internship last summer.

In order for Buena Vista to sponsor her internship experience, Staley applied for the J. Leslie Rollins Fellowship Award. The award is given to one sophomore student to enable the student to develop his/her talents and interests beyond the opportunities in the normal curriculum of the university. Staley was selected from a talented pool of applicants. She was unable to travel the summer after her sophomore year, so Staley went to Lithuania last summer.

Staley, a senior from Charter Oak, Iowa, is a two-time first team all-conference forward. She became the first player in school history to record 500 career rebounds, 200 career steals, 200 career assists.

NCAA On Campus is a monthly 30-minute look at the challenges and achievements of student-athletes in all three Divisions of the NCAA. This is the first time in the five-year history of the show that a Buena Vista athlete has been featured.
