To be eligible for NWCA Scholar All-American honors, the student-athlete
must have a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the previous, full
academic year and must have placed at the national qualifying
tournament (at least fourth if the national qualifying tournament
is a Conference tournament, or at least sixth for the NECCWA
and IIAC or if the national qualifying tournament is a regional
tournament). If the student-athlete did not qualify for the
National meet, he must have competed in two-thirds of the school’s
total scheduled NCAA sanctioned events and won at least 67 percent
of his matches.
The NWCA
recognized the top-20 teams with cumulative grade point averages
above 3.0. The University of Dubuque was fifth with a 3.38 cumulative
grade point average, Loras College was 14th with a cumulative
GPA of 3.270, Luther College was 15th with a 3.25 cumulative
GPA, and Cornell College was 19th with a 3.14 cumulative GPA.
To be eligible
for the NWCA Scholar Team Award, at least six of the 10-team
members had to compete in the national qualifying tournament.
Up to four members used who did not participate at the qualifying
tournament were required to compete in at least half of the
team’s competitions for the 2005-06 season.
