LAKE , IOWA . . . Buena Vista University women's basketball
player Katie Maguire has been selected as one
of 40 finalists to be named to the Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball
Team for NCAA III. Maguire was named as one of five finalists
from Region Eight for the second season in a row.
Maguire,
a two-time Iowa Conference MVP, led Buena Vista and the conference
in numerous statistical categories. In 27 games, she averaged
a conference-high 20.3 points, 6.63 assists, 2.70 three-point
field goals per game and shot 86.7% (156-of-180) from the free
throw line. Maguire also finished her collegiate career ranked
in the top 25 in the NCAA III in assists and three-point field
goals.
The 40 finalists,
who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight
WBCA geographical regions, are now in the running for selection
to the 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America Team. The team will
be announced later this month.
Maguire
ranks first in school history in career three point shots (238),
career assists (511), and free throw percentage (84%), second
in career steals (262), and third in career points scored (1,724).
Maguire, a 2002 graduate of Treynor High School, is the daughter
of Scott Maguire of Treynor, Iowa and Annette Vasicek of Treynor,
Iowa.
