DUBUQUE,
IOWA . . . Loras College junior Geoff Kaiser
was named the Division III Central Region Indoor Field Athlete
of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association on Thursday night prior to the start of
the national championship meet in St. Peter, Minn.
Kaiser,
a native of Horicon, Wis. and graduate of Horicon High School,
is one of four student athletes representing the Loras Men’s
Track and Field team at the National Indoor Meet this weekend.
Kaiser will
compete in the long jump and triple jump after provisionally
qualifying in each event. He was also a member of the 4x400
meter relay that provisionally qualified for the meet but was
not selected. Kaiser earned All-America honors last year at
the indoor meet after finishing fourth in the long jump and
running as a member of the eight place 4x400 relay. His long
jump this year of 23’ 5 ½” is currently the
eighth best jump in the nation.
Kaiser has
five All-America honors and five school records already to his
credit in his stint at Loras.
