STORM
LAKE, IOWA . . . Katie Maguire, a senior on the Buena
Vista University women's basketball team, has been named to
the D3hoops.com All-America Third Team. Maguire also earned
honorable mention to the Kodak/Women's Basketball Coaches Association
(WBCA) NCAA III All-America Team for the second season in a
row.
Maguire,
a two-time Iowa Conference MVP, led Buena Vista in numerous
statistical categories. In 27 games, she averaged a team-high
20.3 points, 6.6 assists, 2.7 three-point field goals per game
and shot 86.7%
(156-of-180) from the free throw line. Maguire also finished
her collegiate career ranked in the top 25 in the NCAA III in
assists and three-point field goals.
Maguire
led Buena Vista to a 17-10 season. The Beavers had a cumulative
record of 88-24 during her four year career.
Prior to
the start of the season, Maguire was named to the D3hoops.com
Preseason All-America Fourth Team. A week ago, she was named
to the D3hoops.com All-West Region First Team for the second
year in a row.
Earlier
this month, Maguire and 39 other players were named as finalists
to the WBCA All-America Team. Ten players were selected to the
Team, while Maguire and the 29 other athletes earned honorable
mention.
Maguire ranks first in school history in career three point
shots (238), career assists (511), and free throw percentage
(84%), second in career steals (262), and third in career points
scored (1,724). Maguire, a 2002 graduate of Treynor High School,
is the daughter of Scott Maguire of Treynor, Iowa and Annette
Vasicek of Treynor, Iowa.
