STORM LAKE, IOWA . . . Buena Vista University athletics director Jan Travis has announced the resignation of head women's golf coach Tom Bohnenkamp. Bohnenkamp's resignation is effective immediately.

"Tom did an excellent job of leading the program for the past five seasons," said Travis. "His squads were routinely at or near the top of the Iowa Conference and our region."

Since his arrival in 2001, he guided Buena Vista to two Iowa Conference Championships. Bohnenkamp was named the league's Coach of the Year twice during his tenure. He coached 10 all-conference golfers, including two conference MVPs and one All-American in his stint with the Beavers.

Bohnenkamp led Buena Vista to a second place showing in the conference during the 2005-06 season. The Beavers claimed the team title at four invitationals this season and concluded the year ranked in the top 20 in the nation.

Travis says that a search for Bohnenkamp's replacement will begin immediately. The school plans to have a new head coach in place in time for the start of the fall season.
