STORM
LAKE , IOWA . . . Luther
Olson has been named the head men's and women's tennis coach
at Buena Vista University. He will begin his coaching duties
immediately.
Olson,
who has experience teaching junior high and coaching several
sports, served as the head women's tennis coach at the University
of Wisconsin-Stout during the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Since that
time, he has been working on completing his Master of Science
degree in recreation administration from Aurora University.
For the past two years, Olson has been employed as a tennis
instructor at the Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
He has also served as a graduate assistant at Outdoor Wisconsin
Leadership Synergies since January 2004.
A
1997 graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois,
Olson played number one singles and doubles during his sophomore,
junior, and senior seasons. He was also a member of the NCAA
III national championship cross country team in 1993 and earned
All-America honors in cross country in 1995.
"We
are excited to welcome Olson on board," said BVU athletics
director Jan Travis. "We look forward to him working with
our student-athletes and we are excited about his energy and
experience he brings to Buena Vista."
In
addition to his coaching duties, Olson will serve as the school's
director of intramurals. Buena Vista's women's tennis squad
opens its season on September 1 by traveling to Indianola, Iowa
to face Simpson College. The men's club begins play in February.
