FALLS, IOWA . . . Behind three golfers in the 70s,
Wartburg College shot the day and tournament’s low round
of 309 in the second round of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) women’s golf Championship at Pheasant
Ridge Golf Club in Cedar Falls. The Knights extended their lead
in the team race to 29 strokes with a 36-hole scored of 634.
Buena Vista is currently second with a 663 (332-331) and Simpson
posted the day’s second-best score (324) and moved into
third with a 668.
Wartburg’s
Erin Dohlman (73), Simpson’s Steph
Schenfeld (75), Wartburg’s Kate Thompson
(77), Simpson’s Rachel LeValley (78),
Buena Vista’s Jennifer Stork (79) and
Wartburg’s Andrea Schiltz (79), all posted
rounds in the 70s on Saturday.. Dohlman and Stork are the lone
golfers with back-to-back rounds in the 70s and sit atop the
leaderboard at 150 and 157, respectively. Schiltz, Thompson,
Schenfeld and Luther’s Lindsay Thies (80-81)
are tied for third with a 36-hole score of 161. LeValley shaved
17 strokes off her first round score of 95.
The
72-hole Championship continues next weekend, October 7-8, at
Finkbine Golf Club in Iowa City. Tee times on Friday begin at
10:00 a.m. with players from Wartburg, Buena Vista and Simpson
teeing off first. Loras, Central and Luther players will play
together during the middle set of tee times, and Coe, Cornell
and Dubuque will play together. Saturday’s tee times start
at 9:00 a.m. with pairings determined by individual score after
54-holes.
