DUBUQUE,
IOWA . . . Loras
College Director of Athletics Chad Walthall announced to the
athletics community today that he has accepted the resignation
of Head Volleyball Coach Brian Meeter effective at the end of
the semester. Meeter cited the desire to finish his doctorate
in sports management and spend more time with his family as
the motivating factors in his decision.
Meeter,
a graduate of Loras, was hired in 2003 to take over the volleyball
program and promptly went 21-14, finishing fifth in the conference.
In his three years at the helm, the Loras volleyball program
finished with nearly 40 wins against tough competition in the
Iowa Conference. The 2005 team was 9-21, 0-8 in the conference.
Meeter
came to Loras from Kirkwood Community College where he served
as an assistant for two years. He also served as the head coach
at Iowa Wesleyan for two seasons.
“I
am very grateful for the contributions Brian made to the Loras
community over the past three years,” Walthall said. “I
wish him and his family the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
A
national search for Meeter’s replacement will begin immediately.
