TEN NAMED SOCCER ALL-REGION

December 8, 2005

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Ten Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) soccer players, six men and four women, were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Teams recently announced by the Association.

Central College sophomore forward Cody Stoermer (Coralville, Iowa/Iowa City West) and Wartburg College junior forward Harrison Kibombo-Lugujjo (Kampala, Uganda/Fjaler (Norway)) were named to the NSCAA All-West Region First Team. Central senior defender Conrad Vernon (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) and Wartburg senior defender Zach Prieve (Lodi, Wis./Lodi) were Second Team All-West Region, and a pair of Loras College seniors, goalkeeper Kevin Smerko (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and midfielder Matt Ochoa (New Lenox, Ill./Providence Catholic) were named to the Third Team.

On the women’s side, Loras senior forward Julie Sapko (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) was a First Team All-Central Region selection. University of Dubuque junior forward Kim Monigold (Freeport, Ill./Freeport Senior), Loras senior midfielder Rodie Doar (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and Luther College junior goalkeeper Lilly Steinberg (Portland, Ore./LaSalle) were named to the All-Central Region Third Team.
