CEDAR RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Wartburg College head men’s soccer coach Jim Conlon has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association Division III West Region Coach of the Year. Conlon’s 2006 team continued a strong recent run for the Knights, registering a 19-3-1 record, third consecutive Iowa Conference title, third league postseason tournament championship in the last four seasons and fifth consecutive 10-win plus campaign. The Knights have been NCAA Division III national tournament qualifiers for four straight seasons and made the round of 16 in each of the last three tourneys. Over the last four seasons, they have tallied a 71-13-6 record.

A two-time Iowa Intercollegiate Conference men’s Coach of the Year, Conlon’s record at Wartburg, through seven seasons, is 92-43-8.

Conlon will receive the West Region Coach of the Year award at the annual national convention banquet in Indianapolis, Ind., Friday evening, Jan. 12. The NSCAA will announce its national Coach of the Year recipients for each division at that time.
