RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Wartburg College head men’s
soccer coach Jim Conlon has been named the
National Soccer Coaches Association Division III West Region
Coach of the Year. Conlon’s 2006 team continued a strong
recent run for the Knights, registering a 19-3-1 record, third
consecutive Iowa Conference title, third league postseason tournament
championship in the last four seasons and fifth consecutive
10-win plus campaign. The Knights have been NCAA Division III
national tournament qualifiers for four straight seasons and
made the round of 16 in each of the last three tourneys. Over
the last four seasons, they have tallied a 71-13-6 record.
A
two-time Iowa Intercollegiate Conference men’s Coach of
the Year, Conlon’s record at Wartburg, through seven seasons,
is 92-43-8.
Conlon will
receive the West Region Coach of the Year award at the annual
national convention banquet in Indianapolis, Ind., Friday evening,
Jan. 12. The NSCAA will announce its national Coach of the Year
recipients for each division at that time.
