STORM LAKE, IOWA . . . Matt Klosterman has resigned his position as head men’s soccer coach at Buena Vista University to accept the head coaching position at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. He will begin his new duties at North Central in June after having led the Beavers since 2002.

"I would like to thank Coach Klosterman for his dedication to the soccer program for five years," said athletics director Jan Travis. "He has improved the competitiveness of the program and will be missed. I wish Matt and his family the best as they enter a new chapter in their lives."

Klosterman was the head coach of both the men’s and women's soccer teams at Buena Vista over the past five seasons and recorded the most coaching wins in the history of both programs. His men’s teams qualified for the Iowa Conference Tournament each of the last four years. His women's squads twice broke the school record for most wins in a season.

“I wish to thank President (Frederick V.) Moore and the administration at Buena Vista University for the support over my five years and for the opportunity to coach soccer at BVU,” said Klosterman. “The staff at BVU and the Storm Lake community have been so good to my wife Jenn, my children, and to me, that we will always have a place in our hearts for this very special time in our lives. It has been a joy to be part of this community.”

Klosterman coached 19 all-conference players (men and women), eight College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District award-winners and three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Klosterman joined Buena Vista after serving as an assistant coach at Loras College and head coach of Dubuque Senior High School in Dubuque, Iowa, for two seasons.

“Most of all, I want to heartily thank the student-athletes and their families who have placed their trust in me for the past five years. I am proud to have been associated with such a fine group of young people,” Klosterman commented. “I look forward to a new challenge at North Central which will bring my wife and children to Illinois and closer to our extended family.”

Travis stated that a search for Klosterman’s replacement as the head men's coach will begin immediately. Hunter Balmer was named the head women's coach earlier this year.
