RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) announced today its All-Academic Team for
the 2007 spring season. One hundred eighty-one student-athletes
from the Conference’s six spring sports met the requirements
for recognition.
To
be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete
must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in
academic standing and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average
(on a 4.0 scale).
The 2007
Spring All-Academic Team is comprised of 77 sophomores, 58 juniors
and 46 seniors. Luther College has a Conference-high 43 student-athletes
on the Tem followed by Wartburg College (33 student-athletes),
Central College and the University of Dubuque (20 student-athletes
each).
One hundred
five of the student-athletes honored participated in track and
field, including 63 women and 42 men. Twenty-nine softball players,
20 baseball players, 16 men’s golfers and 11 men’s
tennis players round out the Team.
Fifty-eight
(32.1 percent) of the 2007 Spring All-Academic Team earned IIAC
All-Academic honors in the fall or winter season. Nineteen of
Luther’s 43, 11 of Wartburg’s 33 and 10 of Dubuque’s
20 Spring All-Academic Team members earned similar honors in
the fall or winter.
