OSHKOSH,
WIS. . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(IIAC) contingent at the 2007 NCAA outdoor track and field National
Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
won five national titles and earned 29 All-American honors.
Central’s
Alicia Whisner (javelin), Loras’ Dana
Klemm (shot put) and Geoff Kaiser (long
jump), Wartburg’s Heidi Porter (800-meters)
and women’s 4x400 relay team all won
national titles in their respective events. Klemm’s win
in the shot put was one of three All-American finishes for her,
and Kaiser’s title was one of two All-American finishes
for him as nine IIAC All-Americans earned the honor multiple
times. Dubuque’s Orlando Walton joined
Klemm in taking home three All-American honors (100-meters,
200-meters and 4x100 relay).
In
the women’s team race, Loras finished tied for fifth with
32 points, just ahead of Wartburg which placed seventh with
31 points. Central finished t-25th with 10 points; Luther tied
for 28th with nine points and Simpson tied for 62nd with two
points. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the women’s
national title with 57 points.
In
the men’s team race, Loras placed 15th with 17.5 points.
Dubuque tied for 18th with 16 points. Central was 25th with
12 points. Wartburg t-31st with nine points, Cornell tied for
59th with three points and Luther tied for 72nd with one point.
The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse won the men’s national
title with 99 points.
