IOWA CONFERENCE WOMEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP – DAY 3 RECAP

ASBURY, IOWA . . . Simpson College shot a 332 and Buena Vista’s Jennifer Stork posted her third round in the 70s at The Meadows Golf Club on Friday to move into the lead of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) women’s golf Championship. The 72-hole Championship concludes on Saturday at The Meadows.

The Storm, who was tied with Wartburg after the first round before falling four strokes back after two rounds, bettered Wartburg by nine strokes in the third round to move five strokes up. Simpson stands at 322-310-332—964 with one round remaining. Two-time defending Champion Wartburg is at 322-306-341—969. Loras remains in third-place (327-322-347—996) followed by Buena Vista (332-320-351—1003) and Central (324-332-358—1014).

Individually, Stork entered the day four strokes behind Wartburg’s Andrea Schiltz but used a 77 to vault to a three stroke lead at days end. Stork has posted 75-76-77—228 through three rounds. Schiltz is second at 72-75-84—231. Simpson’s Megan Smith shot the only other sub-80 round on Friday, posting her second straight round in the 70s with a 77 and sits sixth with a 242 (87-78-77). Simpson’s Katie Vaux is third with a three-round 234 (78-74-82) followed by Loras’ Amy Kemp (81-77-82—240) and Simpson’s Jess Harvey (78-76-87—241).
