LUTHER COLLEGE AWARDED MEN’S SOCCER FAIR PLAY AWARD

November 9, 2006

CEDAR RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Luther College has been awarded the inaugural Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) men’s soccer Fair Play Award presented to the Conference’s men’s soccer program that received the fewest hard yellow and hard red cards in Conference play.

In the IIAC, yellow and red cards are designated hard or soft based on the infraction for which it is shown. Under the men’s soccer penalty structure, teams are penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct based on cards received.

Luther received just one hard yellow card during Conference play and no hard reds. Central College was next on the list with just two hard yellow cards and no hard reds, followed by Simpson College with one hard yellow and two hard reds.
