CEDAR RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Buena Vista University junior linebacker Cody Pierce (Spencer, Iowa/Emmetsburg) and Central College senior offensive guard Nick Reed (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) were named to the d3football.com All-American Team announced on Saturday in conjunction with the NCAA Division III National Championship game. Both Pierce and Reed were Third Team selections.

Central junior running back Vance Schuring (Pella, Iowa/Pella) and Luther College junior offensive guard Jon Stavast (St. Paul, Minn./Eden Prairie) received All-American honorable mention from d3football.com.

The quartet of players receiving All-America recognition were among 16 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) football players previously named to the d3football.com All-West Region Team. Reed, Stavast and Schuring were First Team All-West Region picks as was Central senior punter Brant VerMeer (Montezuma, Iowa/Montezuma).

Pierce was among six IIAC players named to the d3football.com All-West Region Second Team. Buena Vista junior safety Michael Sly (Grimes, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes), Coe College senior defensive end Adam Jordison (Van Meter, Iowa/Van Meter), Luther senior wide receiver Kyle Pearson (Flagstaff, Ariz./Sinagua), Simpson College senior defensive tackle B.J. Bengard (Orange City, Iowa/MOC-FV) and Wartburg College junior corner back Nick Weber (Robins, Iowa/Cedar Rapids Xavier) were also Second Team selections.

Buena Vista senior kicker Chris Kemmerer (Clear Lake, Iowa/Clear Lake), Central senior defensive tackle Taylor Vanden Wynboom (Britt, Iowa/West Hancock) and senior safety Ben Bollard (Pella, Iowa/Pella), Coe senior center Rob Lance (Mount Pleasant, Iowa/Mount Pleasant), and Wartburg senior running back Dan Hammes (Sigourney, Iowa/Sigourney) and offensive tackle Lincoln Taylor (Rose Hill, Iowa/North Mahaska) were named to the Third Team All-West Region.
