CEDAR
RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Coe College freshman wrestler Clayton
Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) has been named the Iowa Conference
Athlete of the Week and the D3Wrestle.com National Wrestler
of the Week for his outstanding performance this past weekend.
The 125-pounder has a 27-2 record in his rookie campaign and
has won 13-straight matches. This past weekend at the NWCA National
Duals, Rush was 5-0, including a win by fall over 2007 NCAA
finalist and current top-ranked Seth Flodeen
of Augsburg. For his efforts, Rush was named the Division III
Outstanding Wrestler at the event.
The previous week, Rush was the champion of the Cornell Matman
Invitational. In the finals, he defeated 2007 All-American and
previously second-ranked Chris Heilman of Cornell,
avenging a loss from earlier this season and garnering Outstanding
Wrestler honors at that even as well.
The Kohawks return to action Friday night as they host Loras
at 7 p.m. in Eby Fieldhouse.
