DUBUQUE, IOWA . . . The Loras College Athletics Department announced today that Pete Weber will take control of the men’s tennis program beginning January 14th, 2008. He replaces Kyle Lippold, who has left the Loras College athletics department to join the business world following one season as the head coach of the tennis team and four seasons as an assistant soccer coach, effective January 4. Pete has served as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s golf teams and the head coach of the Southwestern High School Wildcat golf team in Wisconsin. Weber completed his degree and graduated in December and has served as the Assistant to the Athletic Department along the way.

“As a former Duhawk Student-Athlete, I am very thankful for the opportunity to give back to the Loras community, to which I owe so much. I look forward to helping our Student-Athletes in enhancing their Loras experience by reaching their goals not only on the court, but more importantly in the classroom. We are students first, but Duhawks always.”

In addition to being an Academic All-American in 2005, he was a two-time All-American and three-time All-Conference selection as a member of the Loras Men’s Golf Team. Weber was named the 2005 Jack Nicklaus Award recipient as the Division III National Player of the Year. As a member of Loras College’s first IIAC Conference Championship team in over 50 years, he was also the 2005 IIAC Individual Champion.

A native of Peosta, Iowa, Coach Weber graduated from Western Dubuque High School in 1997. Prior to coming to Loras and majoring in history, he served four years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps with duty stations in Twentynine Palms, California and Okinawa, Japan.
