IOWA . . . Simpson College head coach Brian
Niemuth was named Women's DIII News Coach of the Month
for January Jan. 31. Niemuth led the Storm to a 7-0 mark during
the month and into the national top 10 rankings. Simpson's performance
during the month extended the Storm winning streak to 12 as
Simpson hosts Dubuque Saturday Feb. 2 in Indianola.
In his in his 21st year at the helm, Niemuth is 378-166 (a .695
winning percentage). The winningest coach in school history,
Niemuth is 31st among active Division III coaches in wins and
is 48th among active Division III coaches in winning percentage.
In the history of Division III women’s basketball, Niemuth
is 37th in all-time victories and 48th in winning percentage.
Niemuth has led the Storm to five Iowa Conference Championships,
five NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances, and
three Iowa Conference Tournament titles since the start of the
1997-98 season.
