DUBUQUE, Iowa . . . Loras College senior forward Kyle White (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) has been named to the 2008 State Farm® Division III All-America Second Team released today by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). White, a two-time Iowa Conference MVP, was an NABC Third Team selection a year ago. The honor is the latest for White, a three-time All-IIAC player who was also named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region Second Team recently.

White led a balanced Loras attack in scoring and rebounding with 17.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in 29 contests, leading Loras in scoring 15 times and rebounding 17 times. He ranked second in the Conference in scoring and rebounding, and third in field goal percentage (55.1 percent, 189-of-343). In 16 Conference games, White recorded six double-doubles, most in the IIAC. He averaged 17.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and shot 55.7 percent from the field, ranking first, second, and third in the IIAC, respectively. He ranked fourth in the league with 34 offensive rebounds.

Loras (22-7) qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 77-69 win over top-seeded Buena Vista in the title game of the Iowa Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. In the Duhawks' first round game at No. 2 UW-Whitewater, White knocked down a three-pointer in the game's closing seconds to give Loras the 71-70 upset win. The win was the Duhawks' first NCAA Tournament win since rejoining the NCAA over 20 seasons ago.

“Kyle had a dominant year for us, and he continued to improve, even as his senior season progressed. He was one of many important parts in our success this season and he has been a pleasure to coach,” first-year head coach Greg Gorton said Thursday.
