PELLA,
Iowa . . . Natalie Nakic has announced
her resignation after three seasons as Central College’s
women’s basketball coach.
Nakic, a native of Brampton, Ontario, previously served as the
head coach at Mount Ida College (Mass.) for two seasons and
spent two years as an assistant at Springfield College (Mass.).
“I
have decided to explore other options,” Nakic said. “I
feel very good about where the program is going. I think we
have a great core of players returning. With that core, coupled
with a very talented incoming class that has already committed,
I see great success starting immediately in the coming season
and much more in the future.”
“We
wish Natalie well,” athletics director Al Dorenkamp
said. “We appreciate the fact that the young women we
have had in the program since she’s been here have represented
themselves well on the court and off the court. We also give
her credit for bringing in a really good group of young women
who are going to continue to develop here at Central.”
Central was 15-58 over the past three seasons.
Dorenkamp said a transition plan for hiring a new coach is in
place and that he hopes to have details finalized soon.
