STARKVILLE, MISS. . . . SUNY Cortland's Emily Ringen and Simpson's Calie Hohneke have been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Co-Players of the Week for the week ending April 6, the association announced Wednesday.

Ringen, a sophomore designated player, led the 17-7 Red Dragons to a 7-1 week, batting .650 (13-of-20) with two homers, two doubles, four walks, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored. In a doubleheader sweep versus SUNYIT, she went 2-for-2 with a homer, double and four RBI in the opener and was 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in the nightcap. She scored three times in each contest. Earlier in the week, the Pompton Plains, N.J., native singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Red Dragons a 1-0 win over Plattsburgh.

Hohneke, a senior pitcher/designated player, started three of four games in the circle for the Storm, posting a 3-1 record and notching 41 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings pitched. She pitched a one-hitter against Crown (Minn.) April 1, then took a loss despite throwing a one-hitter in the second game of a doubleheader against then-No. 12 Wartburg April 2. In an April 5 doubleheader sweep of Luther, she struck out 21 Norse batters. The Indianola, Iowa, product pitched 8 2/3 innings of relief in game one to pick up the victory and then tossed her fifth career no-hitter as she went nine innings during Simpson’s 2-1 victory in game two.
