CEDAR
RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Six Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) student-athletes were named to the CoSIDA/ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-District® VII College Division
At-Large Teams released May 27. Student-athletes participating
in sports that do not have their own Academic All-District and
Academic All-America® Teams are eligible for the At-Large
Team including swimming, golf, tennis and wrestling.
Luther
College wrestler Alec Bonander (Larchwood,
Iowa/West Lyon), Coe College wrestler Tyler Burkle
(Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn), Central College men's tennis player
Jared Feddersen (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge),
and Central College men's golfer Reid Turner
(Des Moines, Iowa/Grandview Park Baptist) were named to the
Men’s At-Large Team. Coe College women's tennis player
Hillary Allen (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins)
and Luther College women's swimmer Elissa Schmidt
(Claremont, Minn./Owatonna) were named to the Women's At-Large
Team.
Bonander
is a junior management major with a 3.79 grade point average.
Burkle is a sophomore business administration with a 3.86 GPA.
Feddersen is a senior history and social science major with
a 3.93 GPA. Turner is a senior chemistry major with a 3.80 GPA.
Allen is a sophomore chemistry major with a 3.91 GPA. Schmidt
is a senior biology major with a 3.84 GPA.
Feddersen
was a First Team Academic All-District At-Large selection last
year. All six individuals move on to the national Academic All-America®
ballot. The CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America®
Men’s At-Large Team is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday,
June 10. The CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America®
Women’s At-Large Team is scheduled to be announced on
Thursday, June 12.
To be eligible
for selection to the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete
must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing,
be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a 3.20 cumulative
grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
District
VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division
III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana,
Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
