RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Eleven Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) student-athletes were named to the CoSIDA/ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-District® VII College Division
Track and Field/Cross Country Teams released June 5.
Wartburg’s
Hannah Baker (Keota, Iowa/Keota) and Kelsey
Steffens (DeWitt, Iowa/Central) and Central’s
Kari Hutchinson (Charles City, Iowa/Charles
City) were named to the Women’s First Team, while Central’s
Angie Berry (Norwalk, Iowa/Norwalk) and Hannah
Anderson (Goodell, Iowa/Garner-Hayfield), Coe’s
Holly Rader (Sumner, Iowa/Sumner), Cornell’s
Rachelle Hawkins (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly),
and Dubuque’s Caroline Zelent (Merrill,
Wis./Merrill) were named to the Women’s Second Team.
On
the men’s side, Dubuque’s Jonathan Erickson
(Pella, Iowa/Pella) was named to the First Team, while Central’s
Guy Dierikx (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale) and
Wartburg’s Brian Chenoweth (Geneseo,
Ill./J.D. Darnall) were Second Team selections.
Baker
is a sophomore biology major with a 3.96 grade point average.
Steffens is a junior elementary education major with a 3.90
GPA. Hutchinson, a communication major, graduated in May with
a 3.45 GPA. Rader is a senior athletic training, physical education
and nursing major with a 3.59 GPA. Berry is a sophomore history
and secondary education major with a 3.58 GPA. Hawkins is a
junior kinesiology major with a 3.67 GPA. Anderson is a sophomore
biology major with a 3.94 GPA. Zelent is a senior environmental
science major with a 3.88 GPA.
Erickson
is a senior flight major with a 3.90 grade point average. Dierikx,
an exercise science major, graduated in May with a 3.42 GPA.
Chenoweth is a junior business administration major with a 3.76
GPA.
Baker,
Steffens, Hutchinson, and Erickson advance to the national Academic
All-America® ballot. The CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic
All-America® Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team
is scheduled to be announced on Monday, June 23. The CoSIDA/ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-America® Women’s Track and
Field/Cross Country Team is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday,
June 25.
To
be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District Team,
a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic and athletic
standing, be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a
3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
District
VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division
III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana,
Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
