IOWA . . . Central College freshman punter Kurtis
Brondyke (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) has been named to
the D3football.com team of the week for the second consecutive
week.
Brondyke,
who was also named the Iowa Conference player of the week, averaged
40.1 yards on seven kicks in Central’s 17-14 win at Loras
College Saturday. He landed three of his seven punts inside
the 5-yard line, including two fourth-quarter punts that pinned
the Duhawks at the 1-yard line to help Central preserve the
win.
Brondyke has had four punts downed at the 1-yard line in the
past two weeks. Only one of Saturday’s seven punts was
returned.
For the season Brondyke is averaging 37.3 yards per kick. He’s
landed eight of his 25 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard
line and just three touchbacks.
Central is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Iowa Conference. The Dutch
are ranked 10th in the AFCA Division III poll and No. 8 by D3football.com.
They play their homecoming game Saturday against Buena Vista
University. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium.
