FIVE NAMED TO CoSIDA/ESPN THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT VOLLEYBALL TEAMS

CEDAR RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Five Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) volleyball student-athletes were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII College Division Volleyball Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced on Thursday.

Coe College setter Kristy Upah (Toledo, Iowa/South Tama) was the Conference's lone selection to the First Team. Wartburg College middle hitter Ashley Rogers (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert) and Buena Vista University setter Molly Reuter (Le Mars, Iowa/Le Mars) were named to the Second Team. Central College middle hitter Katie Johnson (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) and Wartburg College outside hitter Kelsey Steffens (DeWitt, Iowa/Central Clinton) were named to the Third Team.

Upah is a senior public relations, physical education, and writing major with a 3.80 grade point average. Rogers is a senior business administration major with a 3.56 GPA. Reuter is a junior social science major with a 3.95 GPA. Johnson is a senior elementary education major with a 3.76 GPA. Steffens is a junior elementary education major with a 3.89 GPA.

Academic All-District First Team members move on to the national ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® ballot. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Volleyball Team is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, November 28.

To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, be a starter or key reserve and possess at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

District VII College Division includes NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
