RAPIDS , IOWA . . . Two Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) volleyball players were named to the American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Central Region Team
announced on Thursday.
Wartburg
College senior middle hitter Ashley Rogers (Dubuque,
Iowa/Wahlert) and Central College senior setter Terri
Berger (Sioux City, Iowa/Bishop Heelan) and were named
to the 12-member All-Central Region Team.
Rogers
was named IIAC Most Valuable Player last week and is one of
just three four-time First Team All-Conference performers in
the history of the Iowa Conference volleyball. The All-Region
selection is Rogers' fifth AVCA regional honor. She was an All-Region
selection each of the last two years and was All-Region honorable
mention and AVCA Central Region Freshman of the Year in 2004.
Berger is an All-Central Region selection after receiving All-Region
honorable mention honors in 2005 and 2006.
Coe
junior outside hitter Shayla Chalker (Melbourne,
Australia/Upway), Central senior middle hitter Katie
Johnson (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston), and Wartburg senior
libero/defensive specialist Ashley Steines
(Camanche, Iowa/Camanche) received All-Region honorable mention.
