CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . Michael E. Warta has been named the head men's and women's track and field coach at Coe College, announced Tuesday by Director of Athletics John Chandler.

"We are excited to have Michael on our athletics staff," said Chandler. "He will bring a great deal of knowledge and enthusiasm to our track and field programs."

Warta comes to Coe after spending the past three years as head track and field coach at Clarke College in Dubuque. He also served as head cross country coach and director of strength and conditioning during his time at Clarke. Warta previously had stints at Lynchburg College and Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

"Michael has been an integral part of many successful programs at all levels of competition," said Chandler. "We look forward to the leadership and guidance he will provide our student-athletes."

Warta has coached 11 individual NCAA Division III All-Americans and five All-American relay teams. As an athlete himself, he qualified for six NCAA Division III Championships and was a four-time All-American.
