RAPIDS , IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) announced today its All-Academic Team for
the Fall 2007 season. Two hundred sixty-four student-athletes
from the Conference’s eight fall sports met the requirements
for recognition.
To
be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete
must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in
academic standing and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average
(on a 4.0 scale).
The
Fall 2007 All-Academic Team is comprised of 103 seniors, 88
sophomores and 73 juniors. Luther College has a Conference-high
52 student-athletes on the Team followed by Wartburg College
(35 student-athletes), Coe College (32 student-athletes), Central
College (29 student-athletes), Buena Vista University (28 student-athletes),
and Loras College (27 student-athletes).
Seventy-eight
of the student-athletes are cross country runners, 48 women
and 30 men. Fifty-seven of the honorees are soccer players,
33 women and 24 men. Rounding out the All-Academic Team are
53 football players, 36 volleyball players, 25 women’s
tennis players and 15 women’s golfers.
