CEDAR
RAPIDS, IOWA . . . A total of five Iowa Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (IIAC) softball teams and 36 IIAC softball
players have been recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA) for their work in the classroom. The honors
are based on academic performance during the 2006-07 year.
Squads
from Central College, Coe College, Luther College, Simpson College,
and Wartburg College earned NFCA All-Academic Team honors after
posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0
scale
Thirty-six
IIAC players earned NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors. Athletes who
achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale are recognized as
NFCA Scholar-Athletes. Wartburg and Luther led the way with
nine NFCA Scholar-Athlete selections each, followed by Central
(eight), Coe (seven), Simpson (two), and Buena Vista (one).
