FOUR IIAC SCHOOLS RANKED IN TOP 100 OF
FINAL WINTER DIRECTOR'S CUP STANDINGS

CLEVELAND, OHIO . . . After the completion of all fall and winter NCAA Division III championships, four Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) institutions are ranked in the top 100 of the Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Standings.

Wartburg College leads all IIAC institutions in the standings with 375.00 points, which is good for 18th place. After scoring 175 points during the fall sports season, the Knights scored points during the winter sports season with national titles in wrestling and women's indoor track & field.

Loras College follows Wartburg in 40th place with 224.00 points. Other IIAC institutions in the top 100 include Coe College (72nd place, 143.00 points) and Luther College (t-76th place, 138.00 points). Cornell College (103rd place, 107.00 points), Simpson College (142nd place, 81.00 points), Buena Vista University (t-150th place, 75.00 points), University of Dubuque (t-169th place, 66.00 points), and Central College (t-265th place, 23.00 points) also appear in the standings.

Overall, Amherst (Mass.) is in first place of the standings with 679 points. Williams (Mass.) is in second, followed by UW-Stevens Point, Washington Univ.-St. Louis, and UW-La Crosse rounding out the top five.

In addition to Wartburg's titles in wrestling and women's indoor track & field, institutions capturing winter NCAA Division III Championships include: UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh (Men's Indoor Track & Field), George Fox (Women's Basketball), Washington Univ.-St. Louis (Men's Basketball), Kenyon (Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving), Amherst (Women's Ice Hockey), and Neumann (Men's Ice Hockey).

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men’s.
