DUBUQUE,
IOWA . . . Loras
College head men’s and women’s golf coach and Director
of Championships Denise Udelhofen has been
selected to attend the 2009 National Association of Collegiate
Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA)/Higher Education Resource
Services (HERS) Institute for Administrative Advancement in
Denver, Colorado. Udelhofen will attend the conference from
May 27-June 2 courtesy of the NCAA Division III tuition grant.
“I
am thrilled to be able to take part in this conference, and
very thankful for the opportunity that the NCAA has provided
me,” Udelhofen said upon learning of her selection.
NACWAA
and HERS-Mid America founded the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative
Advancement. The Institute is an annual residential week-long
intensive management training program designed for coaches and
administrators in intercollegiate athletics administration.
Sessions include topics centered on “Athletics Culture”,
“Professional Development”, “Leadership Skills”,
and “Financial Planning”.
Udelhofen
will fill the role as Associate Athletics Director and Senior
Women’s Administrator beginning in with the 2009-2010
year. At the conclusion of the 2008-2009 year, Jane
Specht, who has previously been in that position will
be retiring.
“This
conference will only help in my transition into my new role
within the department,” Udelhofen added. “Jane (Specht)
and I have been working side-by-side for a long time now, and
I’ll be looking for some new ideas to bring back as well.
These programs are always so beneficial for everyone who attends.”
Udelhofen,
a member of Loras College’s Class of 1990, has served
in a number of roles since joining the staff in the fall of
1990 as a graduate assistant. She has worked directly with the
Duhawk volleyball, softball, and golf teams, served the department’s
Director of Championships for the last two years, and also works
with the facilities on campus. She has also served on a number
of committees on campus outside of the department of athletics.
