DUBUQUE, IOWA . . . Loras College head men’s and women’s golf coach and Director of Championships Denise Udelhofen has been selected to attend the 2009 National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA)/Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Institute for Administrative Advancement in Denver, Colorado. Udelhofen will attend the conference from May 27-June 2 courtesy of the NCAA Division III tuition grant.

“I am thrilled to be able to take part in this conference, and very thankful for the opportunity that the NCAA has provided me,” Udelhofen said upon learning of her selection.

NACWAA and HERS-Mid America founded the NACWAA/HERS Institute for Administrative Advancement. The Institute is an annual residential week-long intensive management training program designed for coaches and administrators in intercollegiate athletics administration. Sessions include topics centered on “Athletics Culture”, “Professional Development”, “Leadership Skills”, and “Financial Planning”.

Udelhofen will fill the role as Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women’s Administrator beginning in with the 2009-2010 year. At the conclusion of the 2008-2009 year, Jane Specht, who has previously been in that position will be retiring.

“This conference will only help in my transition into my new role within the department,” Udelhofen added. “Jane (Specht) and I have been working side-by-side for a long time now, and I’ll be looking for some new ideas to bring back as well. These programs are always so beneficial for everyone who attends.”

Udelhofen, a member of Loras College’s Class of 1990, has served in a number of roles since joining the staff in the fall of 1990 as a graduate assistant. She has worked directly with the Duhawk volleyball, softball, and golf teams, served the department’s Director of Championships for the last two years, and also works with the facilities on campus. She has also served on a number of committees on campus outside of the department of athletics.
